Olivia Toles attending Pathogen Genomic Sequencing Training at the Child Health Research Foundation in Dhaka, Bangladesh

This is what Olivia had to say about her time spent at the Child Health Research Foundation:

" It was a training that took us from sample collection, through microbiological and molecular testing in the hospital then to the foundation where they did extraction, library preparation and actual sequencing. It was really cool to see a workflow from sample collection to data analysis, especially coming from an institution where all of those steps happen in completely different areas. I learned a lot about what it actually means to democratize and decentralize genomic sequencing for the better and what it will look like to continue doing programs like that in the future. More than anything, I learned so much about teaching and mentorship from the very gifted scientists at CHRF and made friends for life!"
